On July 27, 2026, the "2026 China Machine Games Academic Conference," organized by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), hosted by Chongqing University of Engineering, and co-organized by the CAAI Machine Games Special Committee, was held in Foshan, Guangdong. The conference adopted a hybrid online-offline format, with more than 400 experts, faculty members, and students from universities and research institutions across the country in attendance.
This conference is a major national-level academic exchange event in the field of machine games in China. Grounded in the latest trends in the development of general artificial intelligence, it focuses on key topics such as the fundamental theories of machine games, algorithmic innovation, industrial applications, and the collaborative development of industry, academia, and research. The conference aims to establish a high-level platform for academic exchange, bringing together leading researchers in the fields of game intelligence and decision-making in China to share cutting-edge research findings, exchange academic ideas, and engage in interdisciplinary discussions.
Professor Zhang Xiaochuan, Chair of the CAAI Machine Games Technical Committee, delivered the opening address at the conference. Professor Zhang provided a systematic review of the decades-long development of the field of machine games in China, tracing the discipline's evolution from traditional board and card games to applications in multiple fields such as intelligent decision-making, unmanned systems, cybersecurity, and multi-agent coordination. Against the backdrop of the rapid advancement of large-scale model technology, he conducted an in-depth analysis of the opportunities and challenges presented by the convergence of game theory and general-purpose large-scale models. He noted that the purpose of this conference was to break down barriers to academic exchange across regions and institutions, coordinate and integrate national research resources, and promote innovation in the fundamental theories of machine games as well as the industrialization of technological achievements. He also extended a warm welcome to all attendees and called on colleagues in the academic community to engage in extensive exchange, learn from one another, and work together to advance the high-quality development of the field of machine games in China.
