The 2017 excellent doctoral thesis recommendation program of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) has been launched with an award to promote scientific and technological progress in the field of artificial intelligence in China, encourage innovative research, promote young talents, and recognize doctoral candidates in China who have made outstanding achievements. We now notify you relevant issues of candidate papers in the 2017 recommendation as follows:

I. Requirements for submission:

(I) The doctoral thesis must pass the doctoral thesis defense and be involved in the field of artificial intelligence research in China between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2016.

(II) The doctoral dissertation participating in the selection must be recommended by a university, college (department) or research institution with relevant majors in computer science and technology, software engineering, control science and engineering. Each unit recommends no more than 3 dissertations. Papers that have already been reviewed may no longer be recommended;

(III) For specific evaluation conditions and constraints, please see the “Regulations on the Selection of Outstanding Doctoral Dissertations of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence” for details.

II. Submission Paper Work:

(I) A printed paper;

(II) An electronic paper;

(III) CAAI excellent doctoral thesis recommendation form (The form must be signed by the person in charge of the unit when the author defends his or her paper, and the unit seal is also required);

(IV) The paper recommended by the special committee needs to submit a recommendation form signed by the director;

(V) Opinions of the defense committee;

(VI) Other relevant certification materials.

III. The application materials must be submitted to the CAAI before 17:00 on March 27, 2017, and those miss the deadline will not be accepted.

4. Time Schedule:

(I) Acceptance: From now until March 27, 2017;

(II) Format and qualification review: March 28-April 3, 2017;

(III) Initial evaluation: From April 4th to May 1st, 2017, peer experts will conduct preliminary evaluation of the application materials, and select no more than 20 outstanding doctoral dissertations from the finalists;

(IV) Initial commentary: May 2nd - May 15th, 2017;

(V) Final evaluation: From May 16th to May 31st, 2017, the CAAI Final Evaluation Committee will conduct a final evaluation and no more than 10 winners will be awarded;

(VI) Final commentary: June 1st - June 15th, 2017.
