From August 27th to 29th, the 9th "Huawei Cup" 2019 Chinese College Students’ Intelligent Design Competition(hereinafter referred to as the competition), hosted by the China Association for Artificial Intelligence and Teaching steering committee of computer major in colleges and universities of the ministry of education, specially supported by Huawei technologies co. LTD and Hunan Zixing Institute of Artificial Intelligence, and sponsored by Hangzhou Dianzi University (hereinafter referred to as HDU), was held successfully in the Science and Technology Museum of Hangzhou Xiasha Campus. 448 teams from 125 universities participated in this competition, and 100 of them advanced to the finals.
Competition scene
The competition aims to thoroughly implement the national innovation-driven development strategy and to build a collaborative innovation platform for smart technology production, education and research to promote competition, to demonstrate and train college students' ability to solve problems through smart scientific theories and techniques, to improve the comprehensive design ability of college students, to cultivate college students' innovative consciousness and teamwork spirit, and to promote the reform of teaching practice and the cultivation of students' practical ability in smart and relevant branches of learning in colleges and universities. The competition has been successfully held for nine times since 2011, and has achieved good results and competition response.
The award ceremony and closing ceremony was held on the morning of January 29th. Six experts, competition judges, heads of relevant departments of Hangzhou Telecom, as well as participating school teams and instructors attended the ceremony. The experts mentioned above are professor Cai Zixing, Senior Expert of Artificial Intelligence Education in China, IEEE Fellow, Academician of International Navigation and Motion Control Sciences, Academician of New York Academy of Sciences, United Nations Expert, Professor Zhu Zefei, President of Hangzhou Telecom, Professor Wang Guoyin, Vice-President of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Professor Wang Wansen, Director of Education Work of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Zhu Jiafeng, Director of Recruitment and Distribution Department of Huawei Hangzhou Research Institute, Deng Daihua, Vice President of Hunan Zixing Artificial Intelligence Group, and Ms. Liu Sai, General Manager of School-Enterprise Cooperation Department of Zixing Artificial Intelligence Research Institute.

The competition is for full-time undergraduates and postgraduates, and is organized as a team.
It adopts two forms of independent topic selection and designated topic selection. Among them, designated topic selection includes Huawei and Zixing Company's respective practical topics related to intelligent technology.
Independent entries must be closely related to AI. The technical fields include image processing, video analysis, voice processing, natural language processing, multimedia information processing, brain-computer interface, automatic control, robots, big data mining, intelligent sensors, etc.
The finals are divided into three stages: exhibition of works, on-site defense and expert questioning. Among them, 10 teams were selected to compete in the championship, second-place, and third-place competition. The contestants were calm, and all teams performed well.
In this competition, there are 3 second-place champions, 7 first-class prizes (nominations for special prizes), 30 first-class prizes, 57 second-class prizes, 112 third-class prizes, 10 excellent organizational prizes, 9 excellent instructors, and the Huawei and Zixing Artificial Intelligence Prizes.
Among them, the HiWeGo team of Peking University won the championship. The Team of University of Science and Technology Beijing "Bu Fu Shao Hua " won the runer-up. The Team of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications "We Want to go to Hangzhou" won the third Place.

At the closing ceremony, Professor Cai Zixing, on behalf of Hunan Zixing Institute of Artificial Intelligence, donated two sets of artificial intelligence experimental training platforms to Hangzhou Dianzi University and Peking University, where the champion is located.


Subsequently, the handover ceremony of 10th organizer was held. Professor Wang Wansen, Professor Guo Yunfei of Hangzhou Telecom and Professor Qu Junsuo of Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications participated in the handover ceremony.
