The rapid advancement of computer vision technology has effectively promoted the combination of AI and thousands of other industries. From the perspective of industrial application, it can be said that computer vision is the smoothest, most extensive and mature AI backbone technology. At present, there are more than 100 enterprises engaged in computer vision research in China. The related technologies are applied in many traditional industries such as manufacturing , security, transportation, medical care, entertainment, retail, agriculture, etc. We can see that the computer vision can constantly activating new business scenarios, and giving birth to huge market space and bringing value for society. However, behind the rapid development of the industry is the large demand for high-level practical talents, which is a key issue that needs to be solved urgently.

The course design on August 31 focused on the core technology of computer vision, aiming to improve the cognitive system understanding and understanding of the students. Jin Lianwen, second-level Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of South China University of Technology, presented the theme report of "Text Detection and Recognition: Status and Prospects". Then, Zhang Guofeng, Professor of State Key Lab of CAD & CG of Zhejiang University, Doctoral Supervisor and Winner of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation shared "Vision SLAM Technology and AR Application". Following Closely, Peking University's second-level Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Chief expert of 863 Project Peng Yuxin explained "Cross-Media Intelligence: Characterization, Analysis and Application". Then, Shan shiguang, researcher of the Institute of Computing Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences, executive deputy director of the Key Lab of Intelligent Information Processing, winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, and selected member of the National special support program for high-level personnel recruitment, made the report "from seeing faces to reading minds: the progress of visual technology and methods for in-depth understanding of people".

The contents of September 1st are mainly based on the industrial application of computer vision technology, and the most typical business case decomposition is used to strengthen the training of practical skills.

Hongbin ZHA, professor of the Department of Intelligent Science at the School of Information Science and Technology, Peking University, and director of the Key Laboratory of Machine Sensing and Intelligence, shared the new development of SLAM research: from multi-view geometry computing to online learning. Alibaba researcher Menglei JIA did How do we report the AI in the fashion industry?  Weilin HANG, the chief scientist of Malong Technologies, gave a report on "Computer Vision Technology in Product Identification and Intelligent Retail Application". Professor Guisong XIA of Wuhan University and a recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, explained "High Resolution Remote Sensing Image Understanding.”

Nearly 100 participants from all over the country participated in the AI cutting-edge workshops. The lecturers combined their academic achievements and practical experience accumulated over the years to provide in-depth and detailed explanations of key technologies and industry trends in computer vision. At the same time, help students improve their professional skills and competitiveness.

During the training, the students listened carefully and actively communicated with each other. After the workshop, the students responded positively, indicating that the lectures were highly theoretical and practical. The two-day training content was reasonable and the learning effect was obvious, which greatly enhanced the work ability and Self-confidence.

This workshop was led by Professor and Vice Subdecanal Xiang BAI of the School of Telecommunications of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Professor Guofeng ZHANG of National Key Laboratory of Computer-Aided Design and Graphics, Zhejiang University, both were academic leaders, and invited to the field of computer vision. Many well-known scholars gave wonderful explanations for the students from the perspectives of theoretical thinking, technological innovation, practical experience, and industrial trends.

Content and communication topics cover new developments in SLAM ,SLAM technology and AR applications, high-resolution remote sensing image understanding, text detection and recognition, cross-media intelligence, and visual technology in smart retail, e-commerce, social and other hot industries application were shared and discussed.

During the workshop, the ICDAR 2019 bill scanning competition end-to-end identification task champion competition experience was also held. The international top visual competition technology and methods were shared with the trainees to help students master the skills and abilities to solve practical problems quickly.
