The 2nd China Intelligence Education Conference Held in Zhuzhou

From August 23 to 24, 2019, the 2nd China Intelligence Education Conference, co-sponsored by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence(CAAI), China Association for Educational Technology, China Language Intelligence Research Center and Zhuzhou Municipal People's Government, was held at Marriott International Hotel, Zhuzhou, Hunan Province.

The theme of the conference is "Education in the Intelligent Age ", aiming at exploring the strategy of deep integration of AI and education, exploring a new mode of balanced development of AI and education, opening up " Intelligent Education Condition Zero ", allowing education to ride the express of AI, and helping the old revolutionary areas, minority areas, border areas and poverty-stricken areas to achieve precise poverty alleviation and education balance. The conference attracted more than 1300 academicians and experts from all over the country, as well as principals of universities, primary and secondary schools and business leaders.

The opening ceremony of the conference was held on the third floor of Zhuzhou Marriott International Hotel in Hunan on the morning of 23rd. At the opening ceremony, around the theme of "Education in the Age of Intelligence", Deyi LI, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE) and President of the CAAI, Limin LIU, former vice-minister of the Ministry of Education, national governor, president of the China Association for International Exchange of Education, director of the China Language Intelligence Research Center of the State Language Commission and former vice-president of the Capital Normal University. Jianjian ZHOU made thematic reports on "Intelligence Grounded in Education", "Reform and Development of Basic Education and Application of Intelligent Technology", " Intelligent Education Condition Zero - Application of Linguistic Intelligence in Education".

 

Academician Deyi LI said in his report that in the era of intelligence, we should pay attention to the advanced group cognitive education of human beings, construct a new compulsory education beyond time and space, combine individual genes with social environment, combine inheritance learning with self-directed learning, interact silicon-based intelligence and carbon-based intelligence, enhance human experience knowledge and memory cognition, improve  human communication and interaction ability.

At present, Liu Limin shared his views in the report on how artificial intelligence can help basic education, alleviate the shortage of teachers' resources in poverty-stricken areas, and promote the balanced development of urban and rural and regional education. He believes that to promote the balanced development of education and improve the quality of education, it is necessary to strengthen the construction of the public infrastructure of intelligent education, break the resource constraints through intelligent technology, reduce the burden on teachers, help individualized training, and optimize education management with artificial intelligence.

Zhou Jianshe, the advocate of “The New Era of Intelligent Education in China” and the initiator of “Smart Education Zero Action”, said that 2018 opened a new era of intelligent education. Intelligent education, preliminary experience concept leadership, theoretical foundation, technology breakthrough, product transformation, application experiment, some disciplines or knowledge modules have already made the basic preparation for intelligent education. The work in 2019 will deepen the basic education in remote mountainous areas and rural areas, and use artificial intelligence to popularize high-quality teachers, so that the largest range of teachers and students can enjoy the smart education dividend.

 In order to practice the "China Smart Zero Action", at the opening ceremony, the China Language Intelligence Research Center followed the investigation report of Chairman Mao Zedong's "Investigation Report of Hunan Peasant Movement", which was 10,000 students in the rural revolutionary old district of Zhuzhou City and 10,000 students of the National Red Army School. Donated the iconic product of intelligent education--the Chinese composition intelligent correction system, using information technology to make up for the lack of educational resources in remote areas, and actively promote the balanced development of education, so that rural children can enjoy quality education like the urban children with intelligence.

 A two-day “China intelligent education conference” around “intelligence education and education balanced development”, “education intelligent way”, intelligence education ecological system construction”, “intelligent education strategy”, “intelligent development trend of the education and management of change” held three symposium on the theme report, a special forum and a round table forum.

This conference made a theme report and discussion from the aspects of information teaching environment, teaching mode, intelligent education application, intelligent realization of basic education, intelligent education development trend and ideas, and pointed out the direction and thinking for developing intelligent teaching, exploring new teaching mode, and balancing education development between urban and rural areas, regions and schools.

On the afternoon of 23rd, Ding Xin, vice President and secretary general of China education technology association and former deputy director of the central audio-visual education center, and Li Juhe, former deputy director of the financial department of the national development and reform commission, held the first special forum.

With the theme of “intelligent education and balanced development of education”, Ma Liang, director of the information application and development department of the education management information center of the ministry of education; Xiong Zhang, professor of Beihang University and director of the engineering research center of the ministry of advanced computer technology; Li Jianguo, deputy director of the education bureau of Zhuzhou city, Hunan province; Chen Shiqing, academician of the national academy of engineering and President of the third brain research institute of the United States made special reports on artificial intelligence, supercomputing science, processing and application of language intelligence, digital identity construction of credible education, and educational ethics of artificial intelligence.

Huang Heyan, vice chairman of Chinese association for artificial intelligence and dean of school of computer science, Beijing institute of technology; Zheng Yonghe, professor of education department of Beijing normal university and former director of policy bureau of national natural science foundation of China; Shi Jianguo, director of Zhejiang education technology center; Gao Xuesong, dean of school of information engineering, Sichuan agricultural university exchanged the experience of various schools and regions in the practice of intelligent education, and explored the path of the balanced development of intelligent education and education with the guidance of practical problems of intelligent education.
