The task for the recommendation of 2018 excellent doctoral theses of the Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) was implemented. The purpose of this award is to promote scientific and technological progress in the field of artificial intelligence in China, encourage innovative research, boost the growth of young talents, and recognize the winners of doctoral degrees in China who have made outstanding achievements. Matters concerning the recommended candidate papers in 2018 are as follows:

1. Evaluation conditions:

1). The selection scope of the excellent doctoral dissertation is from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2017, and the dissertation should pass the defense of doctoral dissertation in China and engage in research in the field of artificial intelligence.

2) the doctoral dissertations participating in the selection shall be recommended by colleges (departments) or research institutions of universities or colleges (departments) with relevant majors such as computer science and technology, software engineering, control science and engineering, etc. No more than 3 dissertations shall be recommended by each unit and no more than 3 dissertations shall be recommended by any other institution.

3). For the specific conditions and constraints of the evaluation, please refer to “regulations on the selection of excellent doctoral theses of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI)”.

2. Assessment materials:

1) 2 printed papers;

2) 1 electronic paper;

3). The recommendation form of the CAAI excellent doctoral dissertation (signed and sealed by the person in charge of the unit where the author is defending) shall be one copy of the scanned PDF version and one copy of the word version, and the electronic version and the written version shall be the same;

4). The paper recommended by the professional committee should be submitted with a hard copy of the recommendation form signed by the director of the special committee and a scanned PDF version;

5). One paper version and one scanned PDF version of the defense committee's opinions;

6). For confidential recommendation materials, please review in accordance with relevant national laws and regulations, and submit proof of confidentiality review.

3. Review arrangement

All units are requested to make organizational recommendations and submit the paper version of application materials to the secretariat of the CAAI at 17:00 on April 20, 2018, and also send the electronic version to the mailbox.

Specific selection schedule:

1). Acceptance: from now until April 20, 2018;

2). Format and qualification review: April 20, 2018 -- April 26, 2018;

3). Preliminary evaluation: from April 26 to May 26, 2018, peer experts conducted preliminary evaluation on the application materials and selected no more than 20 outstanding doctoral dissertation candidates.

4). Preliminary evaluation announcement: May 26, 2018 -- June 9, 2018;

5). Final evaluation: from June 10, 2018 to June 25, 2018, the CAAI final evaluation committee will make the final evaluation, and no more than 10 winners will be selected;

6). Public announcement of the final evaluation: from June 26 to July 10, 2018.
