Members and related groups,

To provide reference of studying in and estimating future development of science and technology, grasping the scientific and technical innovation breakthroughs and planning the layout and direction of cutting-edge technology industry in order to enhance building China to be a world technical power, CAST will collect 2019 major scientific issues and engineering technology challenges from technology practitioners through domestic associations, institute alliance, some science associations of central enterprises and non-public enterprises. The details are shown as below.

From now to February 28th, 2019.

l  Collection domain and details

The collection faces AI discipline, including the issues related to cutting-edge technologies and the challenges about engineering technologies that play a leading role in 2050 technology development.

The collection details contain the problem title, its subject belonging, key words, description, backgrounds, the latest development and its importance and so forth. The main body length shall be about 2000 Chinese characters. Except that titles and key words shall be in English and Chinese version, other contents shall be written in Chinese (see Attachment 1). If the problem or the challenge is not in correct format, it cannot pass the selection.

l  Other details

1. The final 20 selected issues and challenges might be released at the 21st CAST Annual Meeting in June, 2019. CAST will invite the issue proposers and recommending group principals and contacts as the guests at this meeting.

2. The 100 selected issues and challenges and their bibliometrics analysis reports will be contained in 2019 Major Cutting-edge Technology Issues and Engineering Technology Challenges which will be published by Science and technology of China press. Details including issue proposers, recommendation group, referrers, recommendation reasons and academic secretaries will be annotated.

3. CAST will select some issues to send to the department concerned for decision reference through channels like Technology Practitioner Suggestions.

4. All associations, institute alliances and science institutions of enterprises, which have recommended the issues or challenges, will have priority to organize the CAST-hosted academic meetings of related topics.

5. Media like SciMall and Science Messages of China will make the special reports to announce and illustrate the selected issues and challenges.

Domestic associations, institute alliance, some science associations of central enterprises and non-public enterprises and technology practitioners are welcomed to partake in this collection for intelligence cohesion of science and technology industry to contribute to making China a world technical power.
