The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced the results of their 2019 election on Tuesday.
Among them, Yaonan WANG, supervisor of the Board of Supervisors of the CAAI, and professor of Hunan University, and Xinping YAN, professor of Intelligent Transport and honorary director of the Wuhan University of Technology, were elected academicians of the CAE.
Among the newly elected 75 academicians, there are 10 from the Department of Mechanical and Transport Engineering, 9 from the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering, 9 from the Department of Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Science, 9 from the Department of Energy and Mining Engineering, 8 from Civil, Water and Construction Engineering Department, 7 from Environment and Textile Engineering Department, 7 from Agriculture Department, 10 from Medicine and Health Department, and 6 from Engineering Management Department.
In addition, 29 foreign members of the CAE were elected from Norway, the United States, Canada, Japan, Russia and other countries.
Of the 64 newly elected members of the CAS, 11 are from the Department of Mathematical Physics, 10 are from the Department of Chemistry, 10 from the Department of Life Sciences and Medicine, 11 are from the Department of Earth Sciences, 7 are from the Department of Information Technology Sciences and 15 are from the Department of Technical Sciences.
Of these 64 elected members, 9 were elected through a special recommendation mechanism.
Five are in areas of national need and four are engaged in emerging and interdisciplinary research.
The 20 newly elected foreign members of the CAS come from 12 countries, including eight from the United States, two from France, and one from Australia, Austria, Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
Yaonan WANG is academician of the CAS, member of the CAAI Supervisory Board, professor of the Hunan University, expert in robotics and intelligent control, and member of the CCP.
He was selected as a member of the national "One Billion Talent Project" and the Chinese Automation Society. He was once a subject expert in the field of intelligent robots in the State 863 Program and a chief scientist in the major project of international cooperation of the fifth framework of the European Union.
He is currently dean of the Hunan University, dean of the Hunan University, and director of the National Engineering Laboratory for robot vision perception and control technology. He also serves as Executive Director of China Automation Society and member of Energy and Transportation Science and Technology Commission of Ministry of Education.
He was elected in 2019 to the electronic engineering at the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
He has long been engaged in the research and engineering application of robot perception and control technology.
In order to meet the demand of high-end manufacturing in China, he initiated the dynamic planning and decision-making control technology system of robot autonomous machining, and proposed a series of high-speed and high-precision vision perception and adaptive robust control methods, the invention solves the technical problem of high-efficient cooperative manufacturing of multi-robots, and invents the control technology of dexterous and precise operation of robots.
He took the lead in developing industrial mobile robots, precision inspection and sorting robots and intelligent manufacturing robots to automate flexible production lines, which have been successfully applied to more than 620 domestic and foreign enterprises, such as aviation, ship, automobile, electronics and medicine, and has achieved remarkable social and economic benefits.
In order to meet the needs of major construction projects in China, he broke through the key technology of efficient operation control and optimal dispatch of large multi-unit units, invented a series of Electric Power Special Operation Robots, and presided over the development of a highly reliable and automated control system, which has been successfully applied to the west-to-east power transmission station, South–North Water Transfer Project and other major national projects, and has realized the safe and reliable stable operation of large power stations and pumping stations.
He has presided over and completed the key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" major technological equipment development project, the National "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" science and technology support program major special projects, the National 863 Program Major Projects, and the international cooperation projects of the German Ministry of Science and Education (BMBF).
He won a second-class National Award for Technical Invention, a second-class national award for scientific and technological progress, three first-class provincial and ministerial awards, 11 first-class provincial and ministerial awards, and the "highest award for industrial applications" from the International IEEE Institute of Robotics and Automation.
He has been engaged in teaching and scientific research for 40 years. He is a moral character as a teacher, and is brave in pioneering and innovating. He has trained more than 140 masters and 60 Phds including IEEE Fellow, Changjiang scholar and National Jie Qing. He has published more than 160 SCI papers and 8 published works, and has obtained more than 70 national invention patents and made outstanding contribution to the construction of the college and the development of the discipline.
He won the "National University Outstanding Teacher" , "National Labor Medal" , "national advanced workers" and other honorary titles.
Xinping YAN, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering (ACE), former director and honorary director of CAAI Intelligent Transportation Special Committee, chief professor of Wuhan University of Science and Technology, doctoral supervisor of Intelligent Transportation System Research Center and School of Energy and Power Engineering, leader of transportation engineering and marine engineering, and serving as the director of national water transport safety engineering technology research center, international science and technology cooperation base of intelligent shipping and maritime safety, and collaborative innovation platform of inland intelligent shipping transportation industry; he is also an expert of the inland intelligent shipping working group of the International Shipping Association (PIANC), deputy director of the Department of energy and transportation of the science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of education, and a member of the transportation engineering discipline evaluation group of the Academic Degree Commission of the State Council.
He is a famous expert at home and abroad in the field of waterway transportation engineering, and has successively presided over more than 20 scientific research projects, such as national 973 and 863 projects, key natural science funds, support plans, key R & D plans, special projects and high-tech ship scientific research plans. He presided over the development of on-line monitoring and remote diagnosis system for wear and tear of ship power equipment, navigation and operation system for high-level inland waterway, intelligent safety assistant navigation system for ships, realized engineering application, and made outstanding contributions to the development of China's waterway traffic safety technology system.
He established the state identification method of tribology system, innovated the "four methods combination" monitoring technology of tribology, dynamics, performance parameters and shaft power, invented the on-line monitoring and remote fault diagnosis system of wear state of ship power equipment, popularized and applied it in the operation and maintenance support of existing ship equipment such as dredging, salvage, shipping and national defense, and promoted the shipping enterprises in China. It has promoted the development of China's shipping enterprises from experience management, regular maintenance to real-time inspection and condition-based maintenance.
He proposed the construction method of the inland navigation operation system, presided over the research of the "one diagram, two networks and four platforms" navigation operation system of the national inland high-level channel with "electronic channel map as the carrier, in navigation ships, channel element perception network as the support, channel online service, multi-level ship lock dispatching, ship location service, maritime real-time supervision and other service platforms", and "two networks and four platforms" in China In the construction of the navigation operation system of the main channel of the "horizontal and vertical" water transport, the application is promoted to realize the transformation of the state of the inland navigation from static collection to dynamic perception, which effectively improves the safety technology level of the Inland Navigation System in China.
He created "navigation brain system", defined the composition space of perception, cognition and decision-making control, conquered the key technologies of "navigation brain system", such as the integration, reconstruction, recognition and expression of inland river complex navigation environment and ship state, established the intelligent safety assistant navigation control model of under driven ship, developed the intelligent safety assistant navigation system of ship, and made it an artificial intelligence technology which provides a new technical way for the application in the field of marine engineering.
He won 1 second prize of national technological invention (2012), 1 second prize of national technological progress (2016), 5 first prize of provincial and ministerial level science and technology, 32 authorized invention patents, 5 monographs and 139 SCI papers as the first person.
As the leader of the science and technology innovation team of the Ministry of transport and the teaching team of engineering engineering of the Ministry of education, he was awarded the excellent teacher of the "thousands of backbone teachers plan" of the Ministry of Education (2002), and won one second prize of the national teaching achievement (2009) with the first adult.
