"Wisdom Converges in Yining, Computing Unlocks Life!" The 2026 Annual Academic Conference on Bioinformatics and Intelligent Information Processing Concluded Successfully

From July 30 to August 1, the 2026 Annual Conference on Bioinformatics and Intelligent Information Processing (BIIP 2026) was successfully held in Yining, Xinjiang. Organized by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) and co-hosted by the CAAI Specialized Committee on Bioinformatics and Artificial Life and Xinjiang University, the conference brought together researchers from more than 100 universities, research institutes, and industry enterprises across the country. The conference focused on the interdisciplinary frontier of bioinformatics and intelligent information processing, attracting more than 300 experts and scholars to the "Jiangnan of the Frontier" to jointly explore new pathways and opportunities for innovation and development in the life sciences empowered by artificial intelligence.

The conference was co-chaired by Professor Wang Xiao'wo of Tsinghua University, Director of the CAAI Specialized Committee on Bioinformatics and Artificial Life, and Professor Feng Xinlong of Xinjiang University; Professor Zhao Xingming of Fudan University and Professor Lü Xiaoyi of Xinjiang University served as chairs of the Program Committee; Associate Researcher Chen Hebing of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences and Associate Professor Chen Chen of Xinjiang University served as chairs of the Organizing Committee; and Professor Li Min of Central South University and Associate Professor Chen Cheng of Xinjiang University served as chairs of the Publicity Committee. Comprising over 100 nationally renowned experts, the Program Committee ensured the conference maintained a high standard of academic quality throughout the event.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Lü Xiaoyi of Xinjiang University. In his address, Professor Wang Xiao'wo of Tsinghua University, Chair of the CAAI Specialized Committee on Bioinformatics and Artificial Life, provided a systematic overview of the conference's preparations, academic focus, and core topics in light of cutting-edge developments in the fields of bioinformatics and artificial life. He emphasized that the conference's core mission is to deepen interdisciplinary innovation, address cutting-edge research priorities, and serve major national research needs. Song Haijun, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Yili Prefecture Science and Technology Bureau, delivered a speech expressing his approval of hosting this high-level academic conference in Yining. He noted that the conference effectively builds a bridge for academic exchange in frontier regions, injecting new vitality into local scientific and technological innovation, the development of the academic ecosystem, and the cultivation of high-level talent. Jia Zhenhong, Vice President of Xinjiang University, delivered a speech in which he provided a detailed overview of the university's development journey, distinctive strengths, and overall strategic framework for its interdisciplinary bioinformatics program, showcasing the institution's accumulated research achievements at the intersection of life sciences and intelligent information.
