In order to encourage the initiative and creativity of engineering and technical personnel in the fields of production, construction, and scientific research, and to recognize their outstanding achievements and significant contributions to industrial technological innovation, the International Scientific Exchange Foundation of China has established the "International Scientific Exchange Foundation of China Outstanding Engineer Award" (hereinafter referred to as the Outstanding Engineer Award). This award is established in accordance with the State Science and Technology Awards Regulations and with approval from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Office for Science and Technology Awards. Six selection cycles for the Outstanding Engineer Award have been successfully completed, generating positive social impact.
The nomination process for the 7th Outstanding Engineer Award in 2026 has officially begun. As a nominating institution for this award, the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) will recommend eight outstanding engineers in the field of artificial intelligence science and technology. The relevant details are hereby notified as follows:
The "Outstanding Engineer Award" is divided into two categories: the "Outstanding Engineer Award" and the "Outstanding Young Engineer Award".
Candidates for the "Outstanding Engineer Award" shall be engineering and technical personnel working on the front lines of production, construction, and scientific research, and must meet the award conditions stipulated in the "Measures for Awarding the Outstanding Engineer Award". Front - line personnel refer to technicians who directly participate in engineering and technical work such as production, construction, development, design, and research of products or engineering projects, and have worked at the front line for no less than ten years (for the Outstanding Young Engineer Award, the required working experience in engineering and technical positions is at least eight years), and who remain engaged in related work up to the selection period. Party and government leaders in enterprises who do not work on the production front line shall not be nominated. Engineering and technical personnel refer to those with a professional title in engineering, or those without such a title but who have long been engaged in engineering and technical work, have made particularly outstanding contributions to promoting industrial technology progress and the transformation of technological achievements, and hold considerable influence in their field or industry.
