Young Scientists Salon Held in Beijing

On August 30-31, 2024, the Salon for Young Scientists on “Core Technology of Artificial Intelligence - Models, Arithmetic and Data” was held in China Science and Technology Hall. Supported by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and undertaken by the Chinese Society for Artificial Intelligence (CSAI), the Salon invited more than 30 outstanding young scientists from universities, research institutes and enterprises to participate in the event, focusing on the three core elements of AI: models, arithmetic and data, and discussing how to promote breakthroughs and applications of AI technologies.

The salon was hosted by Qiao Hui, Associate Professor of Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, and Sun Jiayue, Professor of School of Information Science and Engineering, Northeastern University. In the keynote report session, Yi Jiangyan from Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Chi from Institute of Metals, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Bian Song from School of Cyberspace Security, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, gave reports.

The salon fully discussed the direction of attacking the core technology of AI, and the participating young scientists pointed out the challenges faced by the research and application of AI in terms of engineering technology as well as social ethics, and put forward relevant suggestions in the research of AI system paradigm and the design of computational system architecture.
