Recently,Academician Dai Qionghai, the President of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) and Dean of the School of Information Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, along with Assistant Professor Wu Jiamin from the Department of Automation, Associate Professor Fang Lu and Associate Research Fellow Qiao Fei from the Department of Electronic Engineering, achieved a breakthrough in physical bottleneck of mutual restraints of data transfer speed, precision, and power consumption of traditional chips. Combining different technologies, including optical computing, purely analog electronic computing, they proposed a brand new computing framework, which is expected to address various international challenges, such as finding efficient interfaces for large-scale integration of computing units, optical computing, and electronic signal computing.
