On the evening of January 9, 2022, the 8th Committee General Meeting of the Artificial Intelligence Fundamental Special Committee of CAAI (hereinafter referred to as the "Special Committee") was held online.

The meeting was chaired by Professor Wang Xuan, the representative of CAAI Organization Working Committee. Professor Wang gave a brief introduction to the preparatory process for the re-election of the special committee and announced the official start of the re-election meeting.

Professor Ma Shilong, director of the 7th special committee, made a summary of the work of this special committee, and entrusted the deputy director of the special committee, Professor Zhang Xiaohong, to present the special committee in terms of academic activities, academic contributions, member development, and organization construction, etc. in detail. The meeting discussed and approved the work report of the special committee.

According to the relevant regulations in the "Administrative Measures for the Professional Committee of CAAI", the director, deputy director, secretary-general, deputy secretary-general and honorary director of the 8th Artificial Intelligence Fundamental Special Committee were elected by competitive election.

The newly elected chairman, Professor Li Angsheng, delivered a speech, in which he made a plan and layout for the development of the special committee in the future, and emphasized that the Artificial Intelligence Fundamental Special Committee, as the cornerstone of artificial intelligence, is fundamental and strategic to the development of artificial intelligence. He called on all members to strengthen communication and cooperation, jointly run the work of the special committee, and make more contributions.

The newly elected deputy directors of the special committee, Professor Zhang Xiaohong, Dai Jianhua, and chairman Chen Zhicheng made speeches at the conference respectively, expressing the important responsibility for the development of the special committee and their confidence in the development of the new special committee. The newly elected Secretary General of the special committee, Associate Professor Lv Jianghua, and Deputy Secretary General Professor Xue Zhanao also expressed their determination to serve the special committee and its members well, and to do a good job in the communication and coordination of the special committee. Finally, everyone hoped that under the leadership of CAAI, the new special committee will further develop and strengthen the team of the special committee, strengthen academic exchanges, and promote the innovation and development of artificial intelligence basic theoretical research.
