On January 20, 2018, the 11th Standing Council of the 7th Council of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence was held in Beijing. Executive directors, deputy directors, secretary-generals and other standing directors attended the meeting. With 48 of its 57 members attended, exceeding its quorum of 2/3 of the total, its procedure and resolutions were valid.
Academician Deyi LI, president of the CAAI, made an important speech and summary at the 11th Standing Council of the 7th Council: First, we should strengthen the construction of think tanks; second, we are committed to securing the successful presence of the dean forum of the CAAI; Third, we are supposed to make our artificial intelligence lecture hall more targeted; Fourth, as for the special committee that needs improvement, we should put forward guiding opinions and the following development direction; Fifth, we will work to further strengthen the self-construction of the CAAI while bearing its historical responsibility.
Professor Fangchun YANG, executive vice president of the CAAI, and Academician Tieniu TAN, vice chairman of the CAAI, presided over the Standing Committee.
Researcher Weining WANG, secretary-general of the CAAI, made a summary report on the 2017 Work of CAAI, introduced the work of the Association in 2017 and deployed the key work of the CAAI in 2018. Professor Guojun WANG, vice president of the CAAI, Professor Hong LIU and Professor Shaoping MA, respectively reported on the relevant deliberations of the Association. At the same time, the representatives of its branches have also engaged in exchanges and discussions.
The executive directors attending the meeting reviewed and approved the Administrative Measures of the Professional Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (Revised Draft), the Administrative Measures of the Working Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (Revised Draft), and the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award Regulations (Revised Draft). Gang PAN was appointed as the director and standing director of the Institute of Brain-Computer Fusion and Bio-Machine Intelligence Committee. Besides, they approved that “Rough Set and Soft Computing Professional Committee" was renamed "Grain Computing and Knowledge Discovery Committee”.
Academician Deyi LI issued a certificate to the first batch of representatives of the CAAI and representatives of the 2017 Outstanding Professional Committee.
The executive directors of the meeting conducted in-depth discussions on the key work in 2018. The atmosphere of the discussion was lively and valuable suggestions were made for the development of the CAAI.
