On October 26th, the 20th China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition was grandly closed in Shunde district, in Foshan, Guangdong province. The competition was held by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and the computer course teaching steering committee of the institutions for higher learning of the Ministry of Education. Totally 1,120 participants who come from 203 colleges and universities gathered here to exchange, including Tsinghua University, Sun Yat-sen  University,Harbin Institute of Technology,Nanjing University and Jiangsu University. With 13 types of competitions and 49 programs , the 20th China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition  becomes a comprehensive competition for robots and AI, and enjoys the most participating teams and greatest impact nowadays in China.

As a major event of the 4th China (Guangdong province) international ‘internet plus’ expo, it is also one of the most interactive and high-profile event here. In order to follow the general trend of AI’s developing applications in domestic and abroad, except some traditional activities such as robot’s football match, robot’s dancing, drone racing,  some new events were added like robot’s competition workstation, underwater robot competition, unmanned vehicle  intelligent challenge, intelligent elderly care(home robot).

This year’s event has been reported by Xinhua News Agency, people.cn and cnr.cn and other central media,and its latest information were vividly illustrated by the provincial and urban mainstream media.The three days’ competition not only gained rich fruits, but also brought the friendship among participants and a wider understanding of Shunde. 

Hong LIU, vice president of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, professor at Peking University, he indicated that thanks to the 3 years cooperation, this Competition ‘s impact is gradually spreading, and an interactive communication bridge has been built. Especially in a few years, the competitors will become partners, which will be the lifetime treasure. 

Songhao PIAO, the executive chairman of  the 20th China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition, director of the robot culture and art commitee,CAAI,professor at Harbin Institute of Technology, he viewed that the Competition brings about the wisdom of the global experts and top scientific research teams,which will encourage more competent teams to actively invest in the research and development work related to robotics and artificial intelligence, promote the transformation of the outstanding technological achievements,meet the needs of the local intelligence enterprises ’s development in Shunde district, so that It will help attract more outstanding robot enterprises and talents to settle here, promote Shunde district to become a national gathering place for intelligent manufacturing talents and technologies, improve the development level of intelligent manufacturing industry, and promote industrial upgrading and development.

With the high science and technology content, wide disciplinary span, wide participation and strong display, the Competition won the praise of the experts and scholars attending the meeting and attracted the attention of many robot enthusiasts at home and abroad, ‘drone’, ‘robot workstation’ and ‘intelligent elderly care’ became the highlights of the competition. The participating teams have achieved excellent results, and the relevant competition data has broken the records of similar domestic competitions. At the same time, the competition also echoes the ‘national innovation and entrepreneurship week’, fully demonstrating the achievements of contemporary college students in innovation and entrepreneurship.
