The 2018 China Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) Young Talents Recommendation Project Summary Meeting was Held On November 18, in Chengdu, Sichuan province. The summary meeting aims to comprehensively evaluate the project progress of this year, identify the achievements, find the existing shortcomings, put forward reasonable suggestions, clarify the thinking, and make preparations for the smooth implementation of the project next year. The meeting was presided over by Xuan WANG, director of the youth working committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and dean of the school of computer science of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen). Wenbo CHEN, Xuejun LIU, Qinghua HU, Yu GU and Yong ZHANG, who are experts in related fields of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, participated in the defense review.

       The meeting was firstly concluded by the selected young talents from 2016 to 2018 on the overall situation of the three-year work, project performance and the use of funds. Chao QIAN, an associate researcher at the University of Science and Technology of China, presented a general theoretical analysis tool for solving the multi-objective optimization problem of the evolutionary algorithm, and analyzed the performance of the evolutionary algorithm under the noise optimization algorithm.

       Yinghuan SHI, an associate professor at Nanjing university, reported on the small sample learning algorithm, the lack of multi-modal data with complex structure and strong correlation, and its application in medical information processing.

     The evaluation experts asked questions about the specific implementation content and steps of the candidates and affirmed their achievements in the past three years.

     The second stage of the meeting is the interim report by the selected  young talents from 2017-2019. These three candidates summarized the main work and future plan of the project in the past year. Zhang Lijun ZHANG, associate professor of Nanjing University, mainly reports on machine learning and optimization under big data.

       Tianlei ZHANG, CEO of Beijing Trunk Tech co. ltd., made a report on the application of intelligent driving technology in logistics based on the implementation of the project.

The evaluation experts commented one by one and put forward opinions and suggestions on the main research results of the nominated person and the next work.

       Finally, Xuan WANG announced the launch of the “young talents lifting project” from 2018 to 2020. Two finalists, Chen GONG of Nanjing University of Science and Technology and Xuyao ZHANG of the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, made statements respectively.
