To fully implement innovation-driven development strategy and national Next-Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Scheme, further act upon Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee’s guidance of the 9th group study of AI development status quo and trend, and boost the sound development of China Next-Generation AI, all great achievements and industrial projects of intelligent science and technology should be recommended and selected to make AI technology be the supporter of every sector, and improve the development level of intelligent science and technology and industrial applications by triggering the leading talents to be active and creative. Wu Wenjun Award, with the qualification to nominate and recommend honorees for National Science and Technology Award, ranks the first in the intelligent science and technology of China. Therefore, nominating and recommending shall be well organized with enough promotion by all local societies, leagues, all schools of AI of universities and research institutes, CAAI branches and group members. 1. Application Coverage

(1) Candidates make achievements with great application value in AI science and technology research and smart device development.

(2) Candidates make essential breakthroughs in AI basic theories including big data intelligence, cross-medium perception computing, hybrid enhanced intelligence, swarm intelligence, autonomous unmanned control and optimized decisions, advanced machine learning, brain-like intelligent computing and quantum intelligent computing.

(3) Candidates make achievements in the soft science research of the scientification of decision-making and management modernization in intelligent science and technology.

(4) Candidates make achievements in popularization and promotion of AI science and technology.

(5) Candidates make achievements in AI key generic technology and world leading level in application including core algorithm, perception recognition, knowledge computing, cognitive reasoning, autonomous unmanned systems, human-computer interaction, cross-medium analysis and reasoning, virtual reality intelligent modeling, intelligent computing chips and systems, natural language processing technology.

(6) Candidates possess application cases with technological innovation projects in domestic AI enterprises.

2. Application Requirements

(1) Candidates should finish scientific research, project conclusion, evaluation of scientific technology outcomes and be applied in practice for at least two years to illustrate the advanced technology, stable quality and manifest efficiency.

(2) Candidates’ basic theory research findings should lead the world and should be published in academic journals at home or abroad. The findings should be generally accepted worldwide and attach great importance to guide the discipline development.

(3) Candidates’ technical inventions should achieve the authorization of the patent.

(4) Candidates should prove that they have achieved wide social effect in science popularization.

(5) Candidates shall apply for only one award in recommendation of year candidate project.

(6) Technology-driven enterprises working on AI innovation and entrepreneurship have the qualification to recommend applying for this award.

(7) No controversy in finding ownership, principal groups, main principals and their ranks.

(8) Application and recommendation of confidential projects that involve national defense and national security and their principals will not be processed. If the project has been unclassified or is unclassified, the application and recommendation will be processed if their superior competent department can provide its approval and supporting materials to prove the project has been unclassified or is unclassified.

(9) To award excellent youth talents for their innovation ability and pioneering research working, all candidates shall be no more than 35 years old on July 30th (born on July 31th, 1984 and after the day). If candidates have been selected in The Recruitment Program of Global Experts, National Top-Notch Youth Talent Program, National Yangtze River Youth Scholar Program and National Outstanding Scholar Program, their applications will not be accepted.

(10) If the project has been selected in other technology awards of national level, ministerial and provincial level or social power, it will not be allowed to apply or be recommended for this award.

To award the scholars for achieving major breakthroughs and making contributions in AI, it will be warm welcomed for the recommendations from academicians of CAS and CAE, receivers of Wu Wenjun AI Highest Achievement Award, CAAI members, CAAI President and CAAI Vice President (see Wu Wenjun AI Highest Achievement Award Announcement).

3. Application Approach

Candidates should be recommended by the groups and individuals shown as below.

(1) Affiliated or supporting groups of CAAI.

(2) CAAI branches including Special Committee and Working Committee.

(3) Local associations of AI.

(4) Research institutes of AI science and technology at universities, research institutes of automation, electronic information, intelligent manufacturing and robotics, technology R&D centers and national key laboratories in intelligent technology field.

(5) CAAI Member groups or enterprises

(6) Enterprises and institutions working on research and development, production, application and promotion of AI science and technology.

(7) Joint recommendation from an academician of CAS and CAE and a CAAI member or three standing directors.

(8) A distinguished professor selected in Yangtze River Scholars of Ministry of Education, a receiver of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, an expert of National Top-Notch Youth Talent Program and Technical Innovation Leading Talents, an expert of The Recruitment Program of Global Experts and a scholar of CAS Recruitment Program of Global Talents.

1. Online application is available from January 12th, 2019 to May 30th, 2019. All digital materials shall be sent to wuwenjunkejijiang@vip.163.com for formal examination. Overdue applications will not be accepted.
