The awarding ceremony of the Eighth Wu Wenjun Award for Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology held by CAAI and China Science and Technology Engineering Center, and the opening ceremony of Chinese Artificial Intelligence Industry Annual Conference in 2018 were grandly held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, on December 9th and 10th. 

“Wu Wenjun Award for Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology” was hosted by CAAI, qualified and approved by Ministry of Science and Technology, and it is qualified to be nominated and recommended as the state science and technology award, which is appreciated as "China’s Highest award for Intelligent Science and Technology" by the outside world, and it stands for the highest honor in the AI field. The award aims to implement the policy of "Respecting Labor, Respecting Knowledge, Respecting talents, and Respecting Innovation". It is to reward scientific and technological workers and managers who have made great breakthroughs, as well as outstanding contributions in the field of intelligent science and technology. It has won extensive social praise for carrying forward the scientific sprit, encouraging scientific and technological workers to climb the peak pf science and technology, and continuously promoting innovation and development of the field of intelligence and technology.

According to some related rules of Rewarding Regulations of Wu Wenjun Award for Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology and Rewarding of Detailed Rules for the Implementation of Wu Wenjun Award for Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology, winners of the eighth WuWenjun award for artificial intelligence science and technology of 2018 were recommended and nominated by AI associations, universities and research institutes, group member units, senior academicians and scholars from all over the country. From September to October this year, we invited more than 40 academicians and experts including academician Li Deyi, academician Tan Tieniu, academician Wu Chaohui, academician Lu Jianhua, which forming an evaluation committee and made a 10-days public announcement after the initial evaluation and the final evaluation defense as well as discussions, grades and votes. Finally, seventy project achievements were totally selected in the Eighth Wu Wenjun Award for Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology of 2018, which including one Award for Highest Achievement, one Award for Outstanding Contribution, fourteen Awards for Natural Science, thirteen Awards for Technology Innovation, eighteen Awards for Science and Technology Progress, eleven Awards for Enterprise Technology Innovation Project of Science and Technology Progress, one Award for Popular Science Project of Science and Technology Progress, and eleven Awards for Excellent Youth.

We gained a lot, as the first award winner and participant winner we produced fruitful rewards. Our standing member Wang Xizhao, and member Cheng Degang have finished the project of "Modeling theory and intelligent learning method for uncertain nonlinear systems” honored the first award for Natural Science; Our honorary chairman Wang Guoyin, and member Li Weisheng have participated in and completed the project of "integrated biometric key technology and application in smart finance" honored the first award for Science and Technology Progress; Our director member Miao Duoqian, member Zhang Hongyun, Wei Zhihua, and Wang Ruizhi have presided over the project of "new representation and efficient algorithm research on knowledge reduction" honored the second award for Natural Science; Our member Guo Yinan, Gon Dunwei and other members have presided over the project of "integrated intelligent schedualing and execution of key technology of data and knowledge integration and its application in co-production enterprise” honored the second award for Science and Technology Progress; Our standing member Ding Shifei, and member Xu Zheng have presided over the project "research on key theories and methods of advanced machine learning for big and complex data" honored the third award for Natural Science; Our member Zou Li has presided over the project of "research on uncertain reasoning method based on fuzzy language value information" honored the third award for Natural Science; In addition, we Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence was rewarded as "the excellent recommendation association of the Eighth Wu Wenjun Award for Artificial Intelligence".

Wang Xizhao, Chen Degang and other members gained the first award for Natural Science.
