From August 21 to 23, 2026, the 21st Annual Conference on the Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence in China was grandly held in Changchun, Jilin Province. The conference was organized by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) and co-hosted by the CAAI Technical Committee on AI Fundamentals and Jilin University. The conference co-chairs were Professor Li Angsheng, Director of the CAAI Technical Committee on AI Fundamentals and a professor at Beihang University, and Professor Yang Bo, Dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology at Jilin University and Director of the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Symbolic Computation and Knowledge Engineering. The conference brought together experts and scholars from across China specializing in fundamental AI theory, large-model security, strategic computing intelligence, machine learning theory, automated reasoning, AI security, and AI education, facilitating in-depth academic exchanges and intellectual dialogue on fundamental scientific issues in artificial intelligence.

Professor Li Angsheng presided over the opening ceremony of the annual conference on August 22. Professor Yang Bo delivered a speech on behalf of the host organization, welcoming the attending experts and scholars. He noted that with the rapid evolution of large-model technology, the importance of fundamental research in artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly evident. He expressed the hope that this annual conference would serve as a platform for high-quality academic exchange, foster the exchange of ideas and interdisciplinary collaboration, and collectively advance the development of fundamental research in artificial intelligence in China.
