2025 National Symposium on AI General and Foundational Course Development for Universities to Be Held in Beijing

To explore pathways for deeper integration between artificial intelligence and higher education, accelerate the incorporation of AI concepts, knowledge, methods, and technologies into university academic program development, and promote disciplinary innovation and talent cultivation, the China Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) will host the "Campus Outreach" series event from August 7 to 9, 2025, at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT). The event is jointly organized by the CAAI Special Committee on AI Fundamentals, the School of Artificial Intelligence at BUPT, and BUPT Press. The theme of this event is the "National Symposium on AI General and Foundational Course Development for Universities." The symposium will explore approaches and the latest trends in developing China - s AI general and foundational courses by inviting AI experts to share cutting-edge research results and frontline teachers to exchange teaching experiences.

Symposium Dates: Registration on August 7, 2025; conference and forums on August 8 - 9. Venue: Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

1. Course Content Design: This includes the selection and organization of fundamental AI concepts and principles, such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision. It also involves how to integrate AI ethics, legal issues, and social impacts into the curriculum to cultivate students - humanistic literacy and sense of social responsibility. Consideration should be given to including AI application cases in fields such as healthcare, transportation, and finance to enhance students - understanding of real-world AI use scenarios.

2. Teaching Methods and Approaches: Explore teaching methods suitable for AI courses, such as project-based learning, case-based teaching, and hands-on practice, to boost student interest and engagement. Investigate how online learning platforms, virtual laboratories, open-source tools, and other resources can support instruction and improve teaching effectiveness. Discuss strategies for differentiated or personalized instruction based on students - varying foundations and learning abilities.
