To strengthen forward-looking technological assessment, guide original research breakthroughs, and advance high-level self-reliance and strength in science and technology, the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) hereby calls upon its members, all branches, and the broader community of AI researchers and practitioners to submit proposals for cutting-edge scientific questions, engineering challenges, and industrial technical problems in the field of artificial intelligence for 2027, in light of current trends and practical needs in AI. Details are as follows.

Submissions will be accepted from the date of this announcement until October 1, 2026.

The call focuses on artificial intelligence and related interdisciplinary fields, with emphasis on the following areas:

AI Core Field: Targeting global frontiers of science and technology, the main economic battlefield, major national needs, and the health of the people, covering all directions in natural sciences and engineering. Priority will be given to original, trendsetting scientific questions, as well as critical technological bottlenecks ( - choke points - ? - ) in AI foundational theories, core algorithms, key systems, and software/hardware platforms.

AI+ Field: Emphasis is placed on deep integration and collaborative innovation between AI and fundamental disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and life sciences, health and medicine, education, advanced materials, earth sciences, ecological environment, manufacturing technology, information technology, agricultural science and technology, and aerospace. Special consideration will be given to frontier interdisciplinary challenges with potential to drive paradigm shifts and expand application boundaries.
