From December 21 to 22, 2024, the 9th National Youth Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference, organised by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), was held at the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) campus in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. The event was hosted by the CAAI, jointly organised by the CAAI Youth Working Committee, the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Safe and Intelligent New Technologies, with assistance from the Guangdong Computer Society, Shenzhen Computer Society, and Shenzhen HaShen Asset Management Company.

The conference was chaired by Gong Maoguo, professor at Inner Mongolia Normal University and director of the CAAI Youth Working Committee; and Xu Ruifeng, professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) and deputy director of the CAAI Youth Working Committee. Chen Wenbai, professor at Beijing Information Science and Technology University, and Shi Shaohuai, national-level young talent and professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), served as co-chairs of the conference organising committee.
Notable attendees included Ding Mingfeng, chairman of Hecapital and a prominent figure in China’s software industry over the past 40 years; Wang Xuan, professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen); Yu Hao, Vice President of Lenovo Holdings; as well as over 100 contestants from across the country participating in the innovation and entrepreneurship competition.
On the afternoon of December 21, the final round of the innovation and entrepreneurship competition took place, featuring more than 30 teams with over 100 participants from across the country. The judging panel consisted of more than 10 experts from academia and industry, including Wang Xuan, professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and Jiang Yong, professor at Tsinghua University’s Shenzhen International Graduate School.
On the morning of December 22, the Young Scholars Forum was held as planned. Speakers included Tang Bo, associate professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology and a National Outstanding Youth Fund recipient; Peng Peixi, assistant professor at Peking University and a National Outstanding Youth Fund recipient; Shen Li, associate professor at Sun Yat-sen University; and Yu Minchen, assistant professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). Each delivered cutting-edge academic reports regarding the frontiers of AI and their specialized fields.
The Top AI Paper Presentation Session featured scholars from institutions such as the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) and Tsinghua University’s Shenzhen International Graduate School, who presented insights from their research.
The 9th National Youth Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference successfully concluded on the evening of December 22.
