From December 13 to 15, the 2024 China Congress on Artificial Intelligence (CCAI 2024) was held in Beijing. With the theme “Innovation-Driven, Intelligence for a New Journey”, the event was hosted by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), with support from the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Zhongguancun Technology Park Administration Committee, and the Haidian District Government. Wang Jinzhan, member of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) Party Leadership Group and secretary of the CAST Secretariat; Zhang Ge, secretary of the Haidian District Committee and Zhongguancun Science City Party Working Committee; and Dai Qionghai, Chinese Academy of Engineering academician and CAAI president, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

This year’s congress adopted a “1+N+X” model, featuring 7 keynote speeches, 1 summit dialogue, 18 thematic forums, 4 concurrent events, and a large-scale technology exhibition. The forums addressed core AI technologies and cutting-edge fields such as large models, intelligent computing, AI chips, scientific intelligence, smart agriculture, autonomous driving, and AI education. More than 200 scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, and engineers from universities, research institutes, and technology enterprises attended the event.

In the summit dialogue session, under the theme “AI for Math & Math for AI”, five distinguished guests—Tsinghua University Chair Professor Shing-Tung Yau; Dai Qionghai; Nanjing Center for Applied Mathematics Deputy Director Lin Wenwei; Yanqi Lake Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications Deputy Dean Wu Rongling; and JD Explore Academy Director He Xiaodong—shared their innovative research and achievements in the intersection of mathematics and AI, exploring China's approach to this interdisciplinary field.

The congress also featured 18 thematic forums focusing on significant AI topics and emerging trends. These forums covered areas such as natural language processing, pattern recognition, big data intelligence, intelligent driving, medical AI, big data computing, AI chips, industrial manufacturing, AI safety and governance, intelligent education, the metaverse, and embodied intelligence. Additionally, discussions included large models, scientific intelligence, world models, spatial intelligence, and edge models, representing new theories and concepts closely monitored by academia and industry.

The congress featured a technology and innovation exhibition, where nearly 30 leading companies, including Xiaomi, Huawei, Tencent, Lenovo, Li Auto, and NIO, showcased flagship products and solutions.

During the opening ceremony, several key events took place, including the release of the 2024 Beijing Artificial Intelligence Industry Development White Paper, inauguration of the Supernode Computing Power Cluster Innovation Consortium, and publication of the 2024 Zhongguancun Science City AI Empowerment Case Studies.
