From April 20 to 21, the 39th CAST Salon of Secretary-Generals of National Associations was held in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. The theme of the salon was “strengthening the connection with talents in basic research field and exploring new ways to provide service by science and technology associations.” It aimed to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and General Secretary Xi Jinping' important speech at the third collective study of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and furtherpromote the ability of associations in advancing the high-quality development of basic research.

This salon was sponsored by the Science and Technology Innovation Department of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and organized by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), with strong support from the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology, the Wenzhou Municipal Government, the Wenzhou Association for Science and Technology and other relevant organizations. More than 150 people attended the salon. They were the secretary-generals of over 50 national and provincial-level associations, including the Chinese Physical Society, the leaders of 9 provincial, regional and municipal associations for science and technology and the heads of the associations' departments, experts in basic research, and the representatives of relevant departments in Wenzhou City, etc.
