Recently,The “Intelligent Information Innovation and Application Competition”sponsored by Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and co-organized by Sina News and Weibo Campus came to a successful end. This competition, as one of the professional sub-tracks of the “2021 China ‘AI+’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition”, focuses on cutting-edge technology and application issues in the intelligent information industry, looking for high-quality talents, and promoting the intelligent application innovation of information platforms.

Focusing on cutting-edge, looking for high-quality talents

The expert advisors for the competition are Liu Ting, director of the Department of Computing and dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology of Harbin Institute of Technology,and Wang Wei, Weibo COO, Sina Mobile CEO, and dean of Sina AI Media Research Institute. In addition, the expert panel consisted of Professor Wang Hongzhi from the School of Computer Science and Technology of Harbin Institute of Technology, Associate Professor Wang Chaokun, the School of Software of Tsinghua University, Associate Professor He Zhenying from the School of Computer Science and Technology, Fudan University, Li Yunhui, head of Sina Mobile Algorithm, vice President of Sina AI Media Research Institute and senior algorithm expert Gao Xiang from Sina Mobile. They ensure the fairness and justice of the results of the competition with the rigorous attitude, professional perspective, and multi-faceted inspections. 

Since the start of the competition in August, the competition has attracted many students from Peking University, Fudan University, Tianjin University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and other universities, as well as practitioners in related fields. A total of 43 teams registered for this event, among which, there were 10 teams entering the expert defense session through the preliminary round. After fierce competition in the finals, 1 champion team, 2 second runner-up teams, and 3 third runner-up teams were finally selected to share the prize of 50,000 yuan.

Promoting the intelligent application innovation of information platforms

It is reported that at present, information flow recommendation is one of the important issues that information application concerned. How to optimize the effect of multi-objective recommendation and improve user experience in the increasingly complex recommendation scenarios is the mainstream research hotspot and continuous optimization direction in the industry. In this context, the competition takes information flow recommendation and optimization as he competition theme. A group of news users' recommendation logs in the information flow scene are given to investigate the participants’ ability to recommend multiple technologies for the comprehensive application of information flow from various aspects such as behavioral data analysis, recommendation algorithm modeling, and interactive behavior prediction. It not only provides a good platform for communication and trials for researchers, industry practitioners, college students, and enthusiasts who are concerned about the development of intelligent information, but also has an in-depth discussion about the possibilities of “intelligent information” being people-oriented, and allowing algorithms to play a part in a better life and promoting social progress.
