On October 12, 2017, the Fourth Plenary Session of the Seventh Council of China Artificial Intelligence Society (hereinafter referred to as the “Society”) was held in Foshan, Guangdong. The theme of the conference was “The History of the Society”, focusing on the publication of the first list of members, the addition and subtraction of directors and executive directors, the establishment of branches and other related matters, and the 2018 development strategy and key tasks of the society. The meeting was chaired by the executive vice president of the Society, Yang Fangchun, professor of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and the vice chairman of the Institute, and Tan Tieniu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. I. Review the relevant matters of the Institute and make a resolution

The meeting released the first list of members, and reviewed the "Report of the China Artificial Intelligence Society on the proposed increase and decrease of directors and executive directors" and the "Report of the China Artificial Intelligence Society on the proposed addition of branches":

(1) Announce the list of the first batch of members of the Society

The Society is designed to recognize members who have achieved outstanding achievements in the field of artificial intelligence or who have made outstanding contributions to the Chinese Society of Artificial Intelligence. The members of the Society are the highest academic honors of the members. Liu Hong, the vice president of the Society and a professor at Peking University, announced the first list of members of the Association, including 53 scientific and technological workers in the field of artificial intelligence and leading figures in the artificial intelligence industry, including 22 academicians. In the future, the regularization of the selection of members will further encourage members of the Society to continuously climb the peak of science and technology and recognize their outstanding achievements in the field of artificial intelligence.

(2) Review and approve the addition of directors and executive directors

The meeting reviewed the "Report of the CAAI on the proposed addition and subtraction of directors and executive directors". The vice chairman of the society and professor of Tsinghua University Ma Shaoping presided over the agenda. Through secret ballots, Hu Guoping, Yue Dong, Zhao Lixin, and Liu Huaqun were added as directors, and Hu Guoping and Yue Dong were added as executive directors. Wu Zhaohui was appointed as the president of the Zhejiang University Alumni Association due to his work. According to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education, the leaders of the university departments were restricted by part-time work. Therefore, he applied to resign as a director and executive director of the China Artificial Intelligence Society. Huang Xinming resigned from the position of director of the China Artificial Intelligence Society due to work transfer. By secret ballot, I agreed that Wu Zhaohui and Huang Xinming resigned as executive directors and directors.

(3) Review and approve the establishment of branches

The meeting reviewed the report of the China Artificial Intelligence Society on the proposed addition of branches, and Huang Heyan, the vice president of the Society and professor of Beijing Institute of Technology, presided over the agenda. At present, some higher education institutions are preparing to build robotics colleges, artificial intelligence colleges, and intelligent science colleges. Through the platform of artificial intelligence dean forum, the dean/dean director of artificial intelligence related colleges will gather together to promote intelligent science and technology. At present, postgraduate education in intelligent disciplines is far more popular than undergraduate education, and the intelligent era requires intelligent disciplines to return to undergraduate courses. (2) Opening an artificial intelligence lecture hall

At present, the general demand for artificial intelligence in the society is high, but the degree of understanding is very different. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out the activities of the artificial intelligence lecture hall. Make full use of the experience accumulated by the Institute over the years to demonstrate the accumulation of artificial intelligence first-level disciplines, and carry out sub-types on what is meant by artificial intelligence, what are the connotations and extensions, how to cultivate talents, what are the bottlenecks of technological development, and what demonstration experiences of industrial applications. (3) Strengthening the construction of artificial intelligence series white papers

The Society will organize experts in 2018 to write and publish the "World Artificial Intelligence White Paper", "China Artificial Intelligence White Paper" and "2018 Artificial Intelligence White Paper" on the basis of the previous issue of "China Artificial Intelligence White Paper". The "World Artificial Intelligence White Paper" will summarize the world's artificial intelligence 60 years of floating ups and downs, refine the world's artificial intelligence major events, and form the world's artificial intelligence development results system. The "Chinese Artificial Intelligence White Paper" summarizes the development of China's artificial intelligence and reflects the position of China's artificial intelligence in the world. The 2018 Artificial Intelligence White Paper summarizes the breakthrough results and perspectives of the annual artificial intelligence.

(4) Preparing an artificial intelligence think tank project

Start the think tank construction project, and vigorously discover and absorb experts in the field of artificial intelligence to build think tanks. Based on the five secondary disciplines concise in the first-level disciplinary report, five artificial intelligence think tanks of brain cognitive foundation, machine perception and pattern recognition, natural language processing and understanding, knowledge engineering, robot and intelligent system are established. The artificial intelligence think tank should do its utmost to absorb the top scientific and technological workers, top staff and top entrepreneurs in the field of artificial intelligence in the country and the world.

(5) Creating a “Three Clubs and One Competition” brand event

The “Three Meetings and One Competition” brand event will represent the image of the Society. “Three Meetings and One Competition” refers to academic forums, industry conferences, fairs and competitions, specifically China Artificial Intelligence Conference, Global Artificial Intelligence Technology Conference, China Smart Expo and a brand competition. Among them, the three sessions have already had a certain influence, and have formed the quality brand of the society; the brand competition should create one of the most authoritative competitions in the current competition.

(6) Strengthening the construction of the professional committee of the society

The professional committee is to learn valuable wealth, learn to further sort out and strengthen the existing advantages of the 37 professional committees of the society, so that the professional committee assumes its historical responsibility. Strengthen the evaluation of the work of the special committee, and consider the exit mechanism for the non-performing special committee.

(VII) Enhancing Wu Wenjun's Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award

Further strengthen the construction of Wu Wenjun's Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award, and further enhance the authority of the Wu Wenjun Award and its influence in the academic world. Taking Wu Wenjun's award as an opportunity to accelerate the integration of academic and industrial, and deepen the promotion and application of artificial intelligence technology. At the same time, the Institute should continue to strengthen the academic quality and gold content of the Wu Wenjun Award by further optimizing the screening and evaluation mechanism. Beginning in 2018, the selection of the Achievement Award will be changed from the individual declaration system to the nomination recommendation system.

(8) Comprehensive coverage of provincial artificial intelligence society

At present, intelligent alliances, robot alliances, and innovation and entrepreneurship alliances are booming. Artificial intelligence has entered the main theme of the times, and local artificial intelligence associations should achieve full coverage of the entire region. The directors of the China Artificial Intelligence Society come from all provinces in the country. Therefore, our directors have the responsibility to promote the development of the local artificial intelligence society, assist the provinces to establish artificial intelligence associations, and gradually reach the provincial-level local artificial intelligence society.
