To enhance CAAI’s influence on the fundamental education in Southwest China and recruit members, on 27th December, 2018, CAAI Member Activity Center (In Southwest China) has launched a series of activities – AI walking into primary and secondary schools, Guizhou as the beginning of all activities.

Qu Hong, Professor of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, visited Qinghua Middle School in Guiyang and No.1 Middle School in Zunyi on 27th and 28th December respectively. He made a speech with the topic – Artificial Intelligence, popularizing the development situation and relevant policies about AI, as well as the importance of AI in primary and secondary education. Professor Qu focused on AI’s origin and development, explained what AI is and introduced some essential outcomes in this industry, deeply attracting all the audience. His speech started from the concept of neuron in biology and gradually moved to the neuron in AI, illustrating the connection and difference between them. From the easy to the difficult and complicated, he also mentioned the learning of artificial neural network, information transmission and some related knowledge. With the combination of theory and practice, Professor Qu led students to a deeper understanding of artificial neural network and to a deeper thinking of AI, which brought benefits to them.
This speech not only offered an opportunity to students to get to know about AI and guided them to AI, but also marked the important step for this series of activities of CAAI Member Activity Center (In Southwest China).
