On the afternoon of December 22nd, the Accurate Member Service Seminar of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) was held in Shenzhen. More than a dozen of representatives from universities, enterprises, government, local societies and foreign associations gathered together to discuss in depth how to improve the quality and quantity of member service. Liu Hong, Deputy Director of CAAI and Professor of Peking University, attended the seminar. The seminar was hosted by Prof. Wang Weining, Secretary-General of CAAI and Director of Member Service Working Committee.

CAAI is selected by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) as “World-class Association Construction Project”. With this background, the seminar strives to find gaps and deficiencies through extensive discussions and focus on improving the comprehensive service capability in order to make CAAI a world-class association. Based on the new targets and new requirments of international AI association construction, the seminar aims to generate creative ideas for service so as to achieve continuous improvement in membership works.

Up to this year, CAAI has nearly 30,000 members worldwide covering university research institutes, vocational schools, business, media, publishing, legislation, investment, and industry associations at home and abroad, which shows an explicit pattern of cross-discipline and diversification. As the number of members grows larger and the composition of members gets more diverse, the innovation and upgrading of the member service system has become a top priority.

Some representatives at the Seminar

At the seminar, Liu Hong, Vice President of CAAI and Professor of Peking University, brought forward suggestions from four aspects. Firstly,  we should make the relationship between members and the association closer, understand the needs of members, and care about the growth of members; Secondly, we need to recruit talents and representatives from various fields to improve CAAI’s professional influence in academia and industry; Thirdly, we need to attach importance to culture propaganda to generate the visual publicity mark and cognitive system of CAAI; Finally, we need to enhance the function of the community in member selecting and recommendation and standardize the enrollment mechanism to promote community building. Liu Hong also proposed to set up a national membership day to mobilize resources from the lower and upper levels of CAAI to increase members’ enthusiasm and existence through massive activities.

Many experts made in-depth discussions and shared their insights on propaganda channels, brand events, academic forums, industry platforms and academic journals. The experts were included as follows, Zhang Tong,Director of Tencent Artificial Intelligence Laboratory; Liu Bing, Professor of University of Illinois at Chicago and the fellow of ACM, IEEE, AAAI fellow; Wang Xuan, Director of the Youth Working Committee of CAAI, Dean of School of Computer Science, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen); Liu Qifeng, Secretary-General Of Hong Kong Society Of Artificial Intelligence And Robotics,President of Ping An Yizhangtong Artificial Intelligence Research Institute Shenzhen, Zhang Hanyan, Director of Research Institute of Artificial Intelligence Technology Center; Shi Xingyan, Director of Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Luohu District; Che Wanxiang, Professor of Computer Science, Harbin Institute of Technology; Zhang Yong, Professor of Shenzhen University, Liu Xiaojiang, Expert Researcher of Natural Language Processing Center of Tencent Artificial Intelligence Laboratory; Shi Shuming, Head of Natural Language Processing Center Of Tencent Artificial Intelligence Laboratory; Luan Lihong,Marketing Director of Corerain Information Technology; Li Tao, Customer Director of Corerain Information Technology; Song Jie, Director of Memect Internet Technology and Deputy Secretary-General of CAAI Member Service Working Committee;Hu Xiao, Founder of Zhuiyi Technology and other participants.

Finally, Secretary-General Wang Weining summarized the seminar and expressed his gratitude to the participants for their suggestions. She said that members are the foundation of the association. CAAI has long attached great importance to member development and serving members. One of the fundamental tasks of CAAI is how to serve members in a scientific, effective and accurate way. Service capabilities must be strengthened both from basics and professions. And the demanding orientation of the output must be enhanced both vertically and horizontally.

This seminar is an important meeting after the leadership transition of Membership Service Working Committee of CAAI, marking the new stage with accuracy, high quality and diversity of the member service building. It will stimulate CAAI to further utilize the resource advantages of the association and enhance the comprehensive service capabilities.
