On January 12, 2024, the second session of the CAAI Young Scholars Forum on Embodied AI was successfully held.
With Associate Professor Cai Panpan from Shanghai Jiao Tong University as the host, the event was hosted by Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) and organized by CAAI Professional Committee of Embodied AI (provisional). In addition, the seminar invited Associate Professor Pan Jia from the Department of Computer Science, the University of Hong Kong, to deliver an exciting report on "Robot Navigation in an Open World." Approximately 100 scholars, students, and industry professionals from across the country participated online, with over 2000 people watching the live stream.
During the forum, Mr. Pan first pointed out the challenges faced by robots in autonomous driving and navigation in dense crowds, then delved into the latest research progress in this subject. Later,he demonstrated how robots acquire humanoid abilities of obstacle avoidance and information gathering through learning, and eventually realized autonomous navigation. Finally, innovative thoughts on its future development were proposed by the presenter. Jointly with the host and participants, Pan also engaged in lively discussions online after the presentation.
