In accordance with the Notice of the Department of the International Affairs of China Association for Science and Technology on the Collection of Candidates for the Relevant Awards of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations. (science and technology association external letter [2019] no. 30).Recently, the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) issued a notice to solicit candidates for the 2019 WFEO the Medal of Engineering Excellence, the Medal of Excellence in Engineering Education, and the Gree Women Engineering Award. The relevant information is hereby notified as follows:
1.Awards
(1)The Medal of Engineering Excellence
Background: this award was established in 1989 at the 12th General Assembly of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (Once was called the Engineering Achievement Award). It is awarded every two years, aiming to draw attention to the world's contributions to Engineering practice, theory and society.
Award Criteria: the awardee should be an engineer who has made outstanding contributions in engineering practice, theory or social recognition. The nominee should have rich professional experience, profound international influence and educational background.
Awards: to be presented during the 2019 WFEO general assembly.
This award is for medals and certificates only, not for bonus.
(2)The Medal of Excellence in Engineering Education
Background: this award was established in 1999 at the 18th General Assembly of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations and is given every two years to raise awareness of the quality and effectiveness of continuous improvement in engineering education and training.
Award criteria: the recipient should make outstanding contributions to the progress of engineering education. Particular consideration will be given to educators who have served engineering education institutions and engineering education well. The nominee should have extensive professional experience and a strong educational background.
Awards: to be presented during the 2019 WFEO general assembly.
This award is for medals and certificates only, not for bonus.
(3)GREE Women in Engineering Award
Background: this award was established at the world federation of engineering organizations’ 50th anniversary celebration in 2018 and is given annually to recognize women engineers who have made important contributions to the field of engineering.
Award criteria: meet at least one of the following criteria, and all criteria as far as possible: outstanding achievements in the field of engineering and technology, outstanding leadership, outstanding contributions to the guidance and support of female engineers, outstanding entrepreneurial spirit in promoting the development of organizations with significant technical or social impact.
Awards: to be presented during the 2019 WFEO general assembly.
Prizes: a medal, certificate, 1,000 dollars cash award, economy class airfare and two nights' lodging will be provided for the winners to attend the ceremony.

2. Recommended Quota
The Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) can recommend one candidate for each award according to the criteria of the award. All application materials will be reviewed by cast, and 1-2 candidates will be selected for each award to be recommended to WFEO.
3. Material Submission
All branches and local societies are requested to submit the award application form, the electronic version and paper version (in Chinese and English, in triplicate) of the candidate's relevant materials to the secretariat of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence before April 18, 2019. Please refer to the attachment for the award application form.
