Online + Offline held simultaneously

In accordance with the annual plan, the Machine Game Committee has set up special tasks such as computer game academic conferences, machine games and game project technical defenses around the annual competition. On August 5th, the 2021 CCDC computer game academic conference was held online, the opening ceremony of the competition and online games were held on August 6th-8th, and some players were selected for technical defense on August 7th.

The organization of the 2021 competition has the following characteristics: first, found a series of Chinese computer game competitions composed of school competitions, provincial competitions and national competitions. Among them, more than 1,600 teams registered for the 2021, and more than 100 universities registered for the competition. At the provincial level, Liaoning and Anhui provinces entered the competition catalogue of the education departments of their respective provinces, 58 universities or institutions finally participated in the national finals, with 394 finalists, all of which reached a record high for the event.

Second, this year's competition is the second online final of this event. On the basis of last year's online competition, the organizational mechanism of the online competition of this event has been further improved and the online referee team has been enriched, laying an organizational foundation for the subsequent planned online monthly competitions, quarterly competitions and qualification trials.

Third, the number of entries from well-known universities is gradually increasing, and the influence of the competition is further expanding. For example, it has attracted Beijing Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, Jilin University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, University of Science and Technology of China, National University of Defense Technology, Xiamen University, Southeast University, Minzu University of China, Xidian University, Beijing Jiaotong University , Anhui University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Guizhou University, Chongqing University of Technology, Shenyang Aerospace University, Chengdu University of Technology and other institutions such as the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Tsinghua Affiliated High School students also signed up as special representatives of middle school students.

Fourth, it is necessary to bring the source code to the competition, and after the game, for the participating teams of non-platform projects, it is also required to provide the required chess and card record files in time, otherwise the competition will not be ranked. This greatly reduces the competition space for copycat programs, and improves the credibility of fairness, openness, and impartiality of competition results.

Guide contestants to carry out innovative research

After two days of highly confrontational competitions, the champion, runner up and the third place of 19 projects were finally produced. At the same time, the competition organizing committee continued to strengthen the "anti-plagiarism" work, and established a technical defense expert group headed by Professor Li Xuejun, the deputy director of the special committee, and collected the technical defense information of all the top three teams, and selected some players from the champion, runner up and the third place teams to participate in the technical defense, and this year, the Connect Six game project was used as a pilot, and all participating teams participated in the defense.

Finally, after on-site inquiries by the expert group and confirmation by the players, the final results of the three Connect Six teams were downgraded, which externally demonstrated the firm attitude of the competition organizing committee to zero tolerance for "copycat programs". Through these measures, the contestants are guided to carry out innovative research on algorithms, strategies, and software construction, laying a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the competition.
