On March 18, the 2021Chinese Celebration of World Engineering Day and the founding ceremony of the Society of Chinese Engineers, co-sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the National Commission of UNESCO, were held in Beijing.

As one of the founding members of the Society of Chinese Engineers, the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) sincerely congratulates the formal founding of the Society of Chinese Engineers! Under the initiative of China Association for Science and Technology, the CAAI will join hands with many sponsors to serve engineering talents and realize their value, contribute to economic and social development, promote exchanges and cooperation between China and international engineering circles, and build a community of engineers' career, value and destiny.

At the founding ceremony, Wan Gang, vice chairman of the 13th CPPCC National Committee, chairman of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology, Li Xiaohong, secretary and president of the Party Group of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Tian Xuejun, member of the Party group of the Ministry of Education, deputy minister and director of the National Committee of the United Nations Educational and Scientific and Cultural Organization of China attended the event and delivered their speech.

Wan pointed out that engineering science and technology innovation and progress are not only the key factors to promote the development of social productivity and labor productivity, but also an important force for promoting the development of education, culture, sports, health and other undertakings. The founding of "World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development" has enhanced the public's awareness of the improvement of human life by engineering technology, reflecting the important role of engineers in promoting global sustainable development. The founding of the Society of Chinese engineers will better serve the talents of engineering science and technology, realize their value, help the economic and social development, promote the exchanges and cooperation between China and the international engineering circles, and help the Chinese engineering circles to contribute more wisdom and strength to the realization of the global sustainable development goal and building a community of shared future for mankind. At the same time, he put forward three expectations for the majority of engineers: First, the project should serve the sustainable development. Second, we should deepen international cooperation and jointly meet challenges. The third is to innovate the education mechanism and cultivate future talents. Hoping that with the joint efforts of the international engineering community, we can start the "spring" of engineering.

The founding of the society has received wide attention from the international engineering community. 16 international and national engineering organizations, including the International Engineering Alliance, sent their congratulatory letters or messages.

Initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Chinese Society of Engineers is jointly established by 76 influential national institutes, local engineers' associations, universities and enterprises. It aims to gather the strength of engineering science and technology circles, industry circles, engineering science and technology associations and other social parties to build a community of engineers' career, value and destiny.
