The only national association in the field of China's intelligent science and technology, the CAAI officially announced the co-selection list of 2018 fellows of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Academician Chen Jie, President of Tongji University, Academician Dai Qionghai of Tsinghua University, Academician Wu Chaohui, President of Zhejiang University, National Engineering Research Center for Information Technology in Agriculture （NERCITA）Academician Zhao Chunjiang, and other 10 outstanding AI workers in the field of AI and leaders in the AI industry won this honor.

This is also the first co-election of 53 members of the CAAI after the first batch of 22 academicians in 2017.

As the highest academic honor  for academicians in the  CAAI, the CAAI will uphold the principles of fairness, impartiality, and openness, based on the outstanding achievements of the members made in the field of artificial intelligence includes scientific research, technological development, and industrial promotion, the number of additional fellows each year does not exceed 10.

After more than 60 years of development, artificial intelligence has become one of the strategic technologies that leading the future, which is related to the country's overall strategic layout and future prosperity and development.

In 2017, the Development Plan for the New Generation of Artificial Intelligence was released, which further elevated artificial intelligence to the national strategy, aiming to make the overall theory, technology and application of artificial intelligence in China reach the world's leading level and become the world's major artificial intelligence innovation center by 2030, with the core industry scale of artificial intelligence exceeding 1 trillion yuan.

The realization of the strategic goal of artificial intelligence in China is inseparable from the outstanding contributions and support of excellent scientific and technological workers and industry leaders.

The CAAI responds effectively to the advocation of the Party Central Committee and the State Council. Through the normalization of the selection of fellowships, members of the CAAI are encouraged to continuously climb the peak of science and technology, promote scientific research and technology development in the field of artificial intelligence in China, and stabilize the artificial intelligence strategy in China, which lays a solid technical foundation for the stable and rapid realization of China's artificial intelligence strategy.

In addition, the entry of industry leaders has greatly promoted the development of the intelligent industry and the empowerment of artificial intelligence to the real economy, helping to accelerate the process of industrial intelligent upgrade.
